We remember that Jesus descended into hell to free the souls of the righteous who had died before his resurrection. Today, there are no liturgies until night with the celebration of the Easter Vigil. On this sacred night, we remember that our Lord Jesus Christ passed over from death to life. Overall, Holy Saturday — the day between Good Friday and Easter Sunday — is a time of mourning and sadness, a quiet day for contemplation and prayer.
