This Sunday, June the 5th, Feast of the Pentecost, the event when the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles, we culminate the 50 days of the Easter session. During Easter, we celebrated the Divine Mercy Sunday and the Ascension. And now, this Sunday, we rejoice with the arrival of the Spirit of God. All of it, when we begin the month of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, as the source of love, and peace. We witness the power of the sacrificial and merciful love that flows from the Heart of Jesus. The devotion to the Sacred Heart started en the seventeenth century when the French nun, St. Margaret Mary Alacoque learned about this advocacy to venerate Christ, while she prayed before the Blessed Sacrament. Alacoque wrote: "He disclosed to me the marvels of his Love and the inexplicable secrets of his Sacred Heart." Yesterday, we reflected on our appearance in Heaven, given that God will give us new resurrected bodies (1 Corinthians 13:12). And how those resurrected bodies will be? The Holy Spirit, who spoke through the prophets in the New Testament, tells us in the Acts (Philippians 3:21) that Christ "will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body." In the mystery of the Transfiguration of the Lord, the Divinity gave us a hint of what we will be. Our old, physical body will be left behind; our new, spiritual body will be raised up. We will be like angels, with a spiritual body perfectly suited to be with the Lord forever in Heaven. Friends, our physical struggle on Earth is a prelude to the spiritual joy in Heaven, along with the Communion of Saints. The Luminous Mysteries of today advance this dimension. Ave Maria! What will we find at the end of our earthly journey? According to the biblical tradition, heaven is primarily God's dwelling place. It is a place of peace, love, community, and worship, where the Divinity is surrounded by a heavenly court, heavenly beings, and the communion of saints. Last Sunday, John the Apostle, in the Book of Revelation (Rev 21:10-14, 22-23) presented Heaven as the New Jerusalem, the Holy City coming out from the splendor of God. It radiated like a precious stone, with gates stationed by angels, and the glory of God giving it light, and the lamp was the Lamb. And will we recognize each other in heaven? We will know each other more fully than we do now, the Bible indicates (1 Corinthians 13:12). Although our appearance will change, God will give us new resurrected bodies. Ave Maria!
