Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." Modeling our lives on Jesus Christ, by imitating Him, is a tough commitment. Wounded as we are by the original sin, our self-centered personality and our lack of humility, act as blockers. There is an agonizing tension inside us between the eternal truth and our immediate material interest. We have to choose. But we mostly postpone that existential decision, allowing life to go on. This doubt is proof of our fallen nature. Let’s remember through the Holy Rosary that following Jesus Christ is the only truth. Ave Maria! "Well," I answered yesterday to a family member, "that's precisely a sin: lack of humility for not acknowledging our sins; only Jesus and Mary had no sins." A diminished sense of sin is an anomaly dominant in our society. No one is perfect. And that's why we need to be cleansed before approaching the Lord. When we arrive at the Father's house, with sincere repentance, He welcomes us with loving arms. The Father is overwhelmed with joy and holds a feast in our honor. God loves us while we are sinners because He is still our faithful and loving Father. Also, the parable shows us that other believers are all equal in His sight. One common prayer around Ukraine united the world for some hours. The human family — or at least the family of the true faith — recognized its frailty. The faithful saw in the grace of God through Mary the answer to face the evil of the war-makers and their collaborators. Catholics sent a message of peace, solidarity, and fraternity against evil and destruction. We also sent a solution to the world: prayer. The prayer to the resurrected Jesus is the answer. Prayer in all humility and charity is what will allow receiving Jesus and Mary in our hearts. That will stop the war. That's a message to our Ukrainian brothers, as well.
