Why is it so difficult to understand? Many among us refuse the light and chose to live in darkness. They seriously harm themselves and everyone around. These are the souls in most need of Christ's mercy—for whom we pray five times on every Rosary. The Evil Doer, along with collaborators, tries to destroy as many souls as possible, imposing awful ideas and practices. Men and women with the grace of faith need to pray and do sacrifices for the conversion of these sinners. We are a human family, and Our Father desires to receive us all in Heaven. Let’s close the year by asking forgiveness to Our Lord for the many sins we‘ve committed. Also, let’s express our gratitude for being children of God. And, if I may, let’s rejoice for the grace of praying together every day the Holy Rosary. Ave Maria! Merry Christmas! Jesus was born at Bethlehem at night (Luke 2:6-8). That's why we chant today "Silent Night, Holy Night". In Spanish, the vigil is known as Nochebuena. This holy night we sing Christmas carols, illuminate trees, and exchange gifts, with the participation of Santa Claus or Saint Nicholas. We can also deliver gifts to the poor, keeping them in our prayers and inviting them to our family dinner if possible. Let's erect a Nativity scene with figurines, and, as preparation for Christmas Day, let’s try to attend Mass in the evening or at midnight. This Vigil is full of excitement and joy. Amidst this rich symbolism, we don't want to miss our daily Rosary. We pray the Joyful Mysteries, with emphasis on the third mystery of the Birth of Jesus. As Jesus said (Matthew 11:11), "among those born of women there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist." He was Elijah revived. Later, we heard about John the Baptist walking in the wilderness of the desert, preparing people to repent and the coming of the Kingdom of God. As Bishop Barron explains, John went away from the old, corrupt temple, and acted as a "priest of a new temple, the temple of Jesus himself, the new Holy of Holies." This Christmas let's reflect on the mysteries "that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who lives in us" (Corinthians 6:19) and a Savior has been born to us! Ave Maria! Merry Christmas! The Mother of Jesus says to Elizabeth: "My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord," or "My soul magnifies the Lord". The Blessed Virgin Mary announces that her whole being is based on glorifying the Divinity. She hides herself to nothingness by her profound humility. She only wants to give honor to the Creator. The holiest and most perfect of all human creatures in history—the new Eve—empties herself and she gives away fully to God. And then what happens? The Eternal Father exalts her, making her full of grace. Mary becomes a vessel for the Lord. She transforms herself into the superabundant source of life. Mary is the mysterious channel of God's merciful love for all humanity. Ave Maria! Merry Christmas!
