Those parishes will never flourish. The Virgin Mary wants us to daily pray the Rosary and meditate on the mysteries. At Fatima, in 1917, each time she appeared held a Rosary. On October 13’s apparition, when 70,000 people witnessed the Miracle of the Sun, She referred to herself as “Our Lady of the Rosary.” The Mother of God sought to bring the Rosary into the daily life of the Christian. The fact that too many Catholic pastors in the US—influenced by Protestantism—do not venerate Mary and her Rosary confuse their own parishioners and contribute to the decline of the faith. They are awfully mistaken for believing that the Rosary is a human invention. The reality is that the Holy Rosary is of divine origin and brings immense good to the souls. Ave Maria! We need to start with the fundamentals of our faith. These fundamentals of our moral and spiritual life are the Ten Commandments, as we read about last Sunday (Ex 17:3-7). Do we know them—or just remember them from our First Communion? For examining our conscience, we refer to the Ten Commandments [Listed below] Breaking any of the commandments means to be under mortal sin, that is, in no communion with Jesus Christ. Therefore, we cannot receive any sacrament. In this case, we must attend confession, repent, and appeal to the mercy and love of Jesus. In other words, we are with Jesus Christ and His divine Mother Mary, or we are trapped into the enemies of the eternal truth—namely, the worldliness, sin, and evil. Those who position themselves in the middle are closer to darkness. This Lent is an opportunity to embrace the Holy One and his sweet promise of eternity. The fires of hell are very real, as much as the fallen angel and his army of collaborators here on Earth. Eternal damnation is what will await those who reject the merciful grace of the Redeemer. Yet He passed without sin. The extreme physical and psychological pain that Jesus Christ experienced was unbearable, as we are reminded of in the Sorrowful Mysteries that we pray for today. Jesus Christ had domain over nature, but He didn't use it. Instead, He died forgiving his murderers, in expiation of our collective sins. St Paul wrote (Heb 4:12-16): “Jesus was tested in every way, yet without sin.” He sympathized with our weaknesses and carried to His crucifixion the sins and wickedness of the world. Like St Paul, through the Holy Spirit, said: “Let’s confidently approach the throne of grace to receive mercy and to find grace”. Are we putting a real effort into it? The world around isn’t helping. On the contrary, sin and evil invitations are everywhere. Today’s culture doesn’t want us to have a great relationship with Jesus and Mary. This modern society leads us to an empty life, hopeless and full of fear. The problem is that we spend a lot more time listening to the culture than we do listening to God. The Divinity loves us deeply and wants to bring us a life of joy and fullness.
