The will of the Son is to save all the souls from the slavery of sin. The Blessed Virgin Mary reminded us in Garabandal, Spain, the urgent need to repent by asking forgiveness to her divine Son. Jesus Christ, all mercy, understands — and suffers with — our struggle. His heart is burning with merciful love towards us. Sixty years ago, Our Lady of Mount Carmel of Garabaldal, in the same mountains where we pray today’s Rosary, requested the faithful to reflect on the Passion of the Christ, visit frequently the Blessed Sacrament, and do sacrifices and penance. Yesterday’s shocking reading (Luke 19:41-41), forecasting the destruction of an entire city, highlighted the same idea. My wife Maria Blanca reminded us when she was about to die: “We live for God alone” Freeing ourselves from our material world seems to us an impossible mission because this is all we know. Amidst intense suffering, my holy wife had the clarity to understand that God's given life is eternal. Real joy and happiness are acquired by serving Jesus and Mary. As faithful dwelling in this valley of tears, we know it, but our senses and feelings keep us grounded in hard earthly reality. We try not to be disconsolate. My family receives comfort with the belief that Maria Blanca is enjoying the face of Jesus and the Communion of Saints. A close American friend, who is used to praying a lot, told us this week: "Yesterday, we all were praying for Maria Blanca; today, we pray to her." Ave Maria!
