My holy wife, Maria Blanca, accepted to be guided by the Holy Spirit. She was a devoted mother and a committed wife. In addition, she always looked for opportunities to convert others into Jesus Christ. I realize now that what we talked about in the last four weeks at the ICU in La Paz Hospital in Madrid were farewell messages. Did she know she'd die soon? I did rule out then the possibility of dying, convinced as I was of her health recovery. However, Maria Blanca thought that her passing was near. "Be hopeful, everything on Earth is temporary," she explained. Now, as she watches this Rosary, she’d be worried about our limited faith. I picture her in Heaven in the company of the communion of Saints, saying: "If you knew…" Yesterday, we had a second funeral Mass in Madrid, and before it, we prayed the Sorrowful Mysteries. Attendants wondered about the mystery of suffering and why Maria Blanca offered her suffering for others. We dwell on Earth in imitation of Jesus, who gave his life in the ransom of many, but that's still incomprehensible to us. Instead, we refuse to bring our cross and instinctively look for alternative solutions to alleviate suffering. But the Cross is what saves us from our sins, gives comfort, and brings us to the glory of Heaven. Maria Blanca understood this eternal truth. Ave Maria! Maria Blanca “Blanki”, my dear wife, the mother of three spectacular children (Miguel, Blanca, and Jaione), is hopefully in Heaven with Jesus and Mary. I believe that her sins were purged after a sorrowful disease that was discovered almost a year ago. The last month was particularly painful at the ICU in La Paz hospital. Doctors, nurses, and, frankly, everyone were impressed with her resistance and lack of complaint. She was telling me: "This is almost nothing compared to what Jesus suffered." This Rosary of Mary and as many daily Rosaries as the Virgin Mary wants from me are dedicated to the memory of Maria Blanca. We conform to God’s will as we learn in the first mystery of the Agony in the Garden, regardless of the deep pain we feel. I fight — we all fight — for being one day reunited in Heaven, in the presence of Jesus, Mary, and all the Saints. In the meantime, we try to listen and follow the signals we receive from Maria Blanca, her father Julian, my father Alberto, and all the faithful who dedicate their lives to building the Kingdom. Her brain was damaged with blood, which unexpectedly appeared when she was at the ICU, one hour and a half after I left her. She suffered extreme pain for a long month as her body was 40 % burned and after a bone marrow transplant. She was 61 years old. Days before dying, she told me that she was concerned about the faith of those who prayed fervently for her recovery and who might now feel that their prayers are not answered. Maria Blanca loved the Rosary, and this humble apostolate is dedicated to her. In my pain, allow me to say more than one Hail Mary in Spanish, remembering Maria Blanca. Maria Blanca, Blanki, we miss you so much. Ave Maria! They both preached the Gospel in Mesopotamia and Persia, and they both were martyred. Little is known about them. St. Jude, known as St. Jude Thaddaeus, is quite popular in our society because he is the patron of forgotten and lost causes. St. Jude Thaddaeus was a brother of St. James the Lesser and a relative of Jesus. St. Jude was the author of a short Epistle in the New Testament. In this letter, he stressed that the faithful should persevere in the environment of harsh, difficult circumstances. That’s why St. Jude Thaddeus is invoked in desperate situations. Ave Maria! The Lord is delighted when we use our freedom, intelligence, and creativity to build the Kingdom. Wait, our poor spirit collaborating will the mighty and eternal one?
