Neither we can deceive the Creator, who knows everything. When the judgment day arrives — and it will arrive for everyone, no exception — we will give an account of our deeds. The Father will send us then to the purgatory as a previous cleansing step to Heaven or to hell to be consumed there for eternity. God created us to serve Him in this earthly life and be eternally joyful in the next one. So let’s quickly repent of all sins and get rid of hypocrisy. In yesterday’s reading (Mt 23:27-32), Jesus was talking about the scribes and Pharisees, and truly anyone, which appear beautiful and righteous on the outside, but inside they are filled with hypocrisy and evildoing. Friends, we don’t want to belong in this group. Let’s be open to the Holy Spirit, repent, set holiness as a goal, adore the Eucharist — all of it by meeting Jesus through the Virgin Mary. Ave Maria! This apparition — the fourth of six — took place six days later because the children were arrested, interrogated, and threatened on August 13; the authorities were afraid of the events and the secrets of Fatima. In Valinhos, Our Lady asked them to continue praying the Rosary every day and make sacrifices for sinners, as many souls perish in hell because nobody is praying or making sacrifices for them. The Holy Virgin promised that in the coming October would work a miracle so that all may believe. Despite so, their locals didn’t repent. Jesus was ignored, mocked, and rejected. These offenses would end up bringing bad consequences. Not because of God’s punishment, but because those fallen cities would feel the effects of their sin. Mind you, the Eternal Father is all-love and mercy, far from being vindictive and cruel. It’s simply that where and when God is rejected, sin takes control of the situation, and destruction is the consequence. The heavens fully respect our freedom. We cannot complain when we decide to run the show without any divine grace. That applies to an individual as a person and society. Ave Maria! What Western countries should promote everywhere is the truthful, merciful, and joyful message of Christianity. Sadly, we don’t lead by the example, despite having enormously benefited from Christian humanism ideas. The economical prosperity of the U.S. and Europe is due to the influence of the faith in Jesus Christ. Teaching democracy in Afghanistan and any other broken countries is good. But it’s much better to teach the imitation to Jesus, Mary, and all the saints. Either we are with Christ or against Him. The Gospel of Luke (Lk 1:39-56) recorded this passage, as we read during the Solemnity of the Assumption yesterday. The Holy Mother declared the greatness of the Eternal Father and confessed that She was finding delight in it. What a revelation for all of us! She also anticipated that she would become blessed and would be invoked forever, as we do in our daily Rosary. Mary unveils that the Lord has mercy on those who fear and repent in front of Him. God has all the power and keeps coming to his servants, again and again, giving us countless opportunities to reject sin, improve our life, and embrace his grace.
