We all are branches of the mystical body of Jesus Christ, and we grow in Him. In Europe, the Old Continent, a great demonstration of fervor, repentance, charity, and culture is the Camino de Santiago, known in English as the Way of St. James. Europe — including the ancestors of Americans — was formed by heading into the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, in the Northwest of Spain, where Saint James the Apostle is buried. The Way of St. James became a major pilgrimage route of medieval Christianity from the 10th century onwards. Today, The Camino attracts over 200,000 pilgrims each year. Today, we are going to march several kilometers of The Way while we pray together the Holy Rosary. From the entrance in Pamplona to the way out of the city, we follow the route of the scallop shell, the ubiquitous sight along the Camino that serves as a guide for pilgrims. Ave Maria! This is regrettable, because as Jesus said, "Whoever has ears ought to hear." The Son of God explains, at the request of the apostles, the parable of the weeds. In the world, Jesus Christ sows good seed. But then the Evil One comes and sows weeds. The weeds are the children of the Devil. At the end of the age, God will send his angels to collect the harvest. All evildoers and those who cause others to sin will be thrown in the eternal fire, "where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth." "The righteous will shine like the sun in the Kingdom of their Father," said Jesus. Friends, this is not a metaphorical future. It’s the Author of Life and the King of the University announcing what will happen to all of us. Let’s urgently repent, convince others, and invoke the mercy of Jesus and Mary. Ave Maria! In many places, today is also the world day to honor grandparents and the elderly. Saints Joachim and Anne educated Mary the Mother of Jesus, with love and devotion to God, teaching her the law. Beyond this, we know very little; there are no mentions of them in the Bible or Gospels. Joachim and Anne serve as role models for parents and both deserve to be honored and emulated. He also received the first apparition on the Virgin Mary when he was starting to preach the good news in the old Hispania. Naturally, Saint James is the patron saint of Spain and, according to tradition, his remains are held in Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, the iconic pilgrimage city of El Camino, the Way. St James — who was executed by the sword and martyred by Herod Agrippa — is a symbol of strength and determination against the enemies of the true faith. When the harvest time arrives, God's harvesters will collect the good fruit and throw the bad into the everlasting fire. This parable tells how we can behave today when we see so much evil around us.
