Today, twenty centuries later, from Heaven, Jesus Christ continues calling each and every one of us to carry on with his mission of love. With the exception of few saints, the majority of us don’t follow the apostolic call. We argue by saying that we are too busy, lack preparation, or have too many weaknesses. Jesus, who already knows all of this, doesn’t buy our excuses. He wants our personal help in the construction of the Kingdom of God. For that, he sends us the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, and his mystical spouse, the Virgin Mary, to strengthen us and make the mission successful. "They took offense at him," wrote Mark the Evangelist. "Jesus was amazed at their lack of faith." Our modern society is not much different. Currently, people offend and mock Jesus Christ with unrighteous practices and ideas. Ideologies are designed to deprive souls of divine plenitude. Ideologies damage all collectively but most importantly offend Jesus and Mary. How can be the children of God so wicked and ungrateful? It’s clearly our lack of faith and our lack of wisdom that poisons our soul. Let’s ask during the Rosary of Mary the humility and grace to become servants of the Lord, as we learn in the first Joyful mystery. Ave Maria! After the resurrection, Jesus Christ permitted Thomas to doubt, but he did not abandon him. The apostle saw the Man Christ and acknowledged His divinity with the words: "My Lord and my God." St. Thomas’s initial weakness of faith should bring us to reflect on our own failings. God permits our faults and missteps, and that’s very valuable for the progress of our soul. Ave Maria! We say several times in the Lord's Prayer "thy will be done", but we are suspicious. The Father's will is fine as long as it fits with our plans and desires. Otherwise, it seems a kind of a rhetoric pledge. The Evil One and the World twists our minds with falsehoods. The Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit are infinite goodness, beyond our understanding. Naturally, the Holy Trinity always brings to us the very best of everything. However, be aware that the Heavens are not removing our cross. The suffering of the cross is needed for our salvation and eternal life. Picture the agony of Jesus in the garden and his sorrowful passion. We are not suffering that much. Jesus passed the test and resurrected. So we will accompany Him in eternal glory. In the meantime, let's rejoice in Jesus and Mary, and let's put all of our burdens in the sacred heart. Ave Maria!
