The Blessed Virgin Mary gave her Rosary to humanity, through the Spanish priest St Dominic of Guzman, as an instrument of truth to combat the heresy of that time, the Albigensian, in France. In the XIII century, it was called the Marian Psalter. Two centuries later, it would adopt the name of the Rosary. Jesus Christ went further than anyone else by facing death on a cross after brutal physical and psychological torture. Why the Redeemer of the World needed to experience all this extreme pain and how is this related to our daily lives? We reflect upon it every time we pray the Sorrowful Mysteries, as we do today. Jesus Christ carried all of the unspeakable sins of humanity upon Himself and gave his own life as a ramson for our wickedness. Through His merciful love, He defeated all the poison, deceit, and lies of the Evil One. His Resurrection proved that humans were destined for eternity in Heaven in the union with the Holy Trinity and the Blessed Mother. Earthy life would be a temporary, painful test to purity our soul, understand the divine glory and arrive after the resurrection in good shape into the Father. Ave Maria! The Resurrection shows that divine love is much more powerful than any other dark force in the world, including fear, violence, cruelty, and pride. The first resurrected man Jesus Christ, the new Adam, defeated sin and death and opened an amazing, unexpected chapter in history, full of hope. The new Eve, the Virgin Mary, all-humility, would teach us how the perfect disciple should be. Let’s be open to the Holy Spirit to better understand the glory of God. Ave Maria! When we reject resurrected Jesus and his divine Mother, our life is a mess, full of despair and unnecessary pain. Humanity can try as many alternatives and fancy ideas and models as they wish but none of them work — or will work. We are wired the way we are: to rest in God. In today’s reading (Jn 17:11b-19), Jesus explained that He gave us the word of truth, so we could share God’s joy. But the world hated the truth. We, humans, prefer to live in darkness due to our pride and ignorance. Knowing all of this, Jesus Christ asked the Father not to remove us from Earth but to keep us out of the reach of the Evil One.
