The celebration has been properly retained to this day. There is a saying in Spanish that states that the three most important Thursdays of the year are Holy Thursday, Corpus Chisti, and the Ascension. In some other places, the Solemnity is this upcoming Seventh Sunday of Easter. Jesus Christ concluded his resurrected presence among us and ascended into heaven. He seated at the right hand of the Father, until his second coming, which will open an eternal phase in human history. Meanwhile, it was Jesus' Mother who, since the first century, was commissioned to appear on Earth in order to remind us of the need for repentance and conversion, bringing us closer to her divine Son. One of the last supernatural apparitions happened one day like today, 104 years ago, near Lisbon, in Portugal. The Virgin Mary appeared to Lucia, Jacinta, and Francisco, as Our Lady of the Rosary. She also performed on her last apparition in October 1917 a spectacular miracle — the Miracle of the Sun – witnessed by 70,000 people. The devotion to Our Lady of Fatima has improved dramatically the lives of millions. The daily recitation of the Holy Rosary is like holding the hand of the Blessed Mother. Ave Maria! Losing health is not our only fear. Our lives are often marked by distress and anxiety. We are afraid of losing loved ones, friends, money, properties, pleasures, power, and ultimately, our life itself. The Prince of Lies thrives with our agitation and despair. Our goal should be to seek peace and holiness. The only real peace comes from Jesus and Mary. The Redeemer of the world reminded this to us in yesterday's reading (John 14:27-31a): "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid." Jesus Christ is the antidote for fear. What can scare us if the Author of Life lives in us and Our Blessed Mother intercedes for us? Ave Maria! The Redeemer of the world said on Sunday’s reading: “If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask for whatever you want and it will be done for you.” (Jn 15:1-8). On Monday, the teaching was similar: “Whatever you ask in my name, I will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything of me in my name, I will do it.” (Jn 14:6-14). Since most of our prayer is based on asking rather than thanksgiving, we must understand how this works. When our human will is aligned with divine will, our requests are granted, not in our time but in God’s time — and for His greater glory. Someone might be disappointed with the explanation. However, the factual reality is that Divinity’s timeframe and graces are much better than ours. We just need to place our full trust in Jesus and Mary. Never doubt! Ave Maria! They both suffered and were persecuted, but they placed their confidence in Jesus Christ and now rejoice in heaven. We too must not be troubled and live in Christ and He in us. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, as we read today in the Gospel of John (Jn 14:6-14). Jesus Christ wants to live in us — as long as we freely decide to surrender. The reality that Jesus Christ is the vine and we are the branches goes beyond any moral teaching. The Son of God is the source of supernatural life in us.
