Why then so many do question some of the teachings of the Gospel? One example: In the reading yesterday (Lk 11:14-33), Jesus Christ Himself said: "Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters." In other words: We are with Christ and graciously carry our cross, or we are against Him and become slaves of sin, destroying our present and future life. This is the dilemma that applies to everyone. Why is this happening? Because our human nature is wounded by the original sin. Our soul is not at the plenitude on Earth. We must be humble to admit it. The dark forces want to keep us arrogant, full of pride, in order to challenge God. Let’s start by recognizing our weakness, and implore grace, mercy, and courage. Ave Maria! The Rosary of the Virgin Mary is meant to be prayed. And when prayed, we need to be open to the Holy Spirit and be led by Divinity. At least, during the 20 to 30 minutes of the prayer duration, we should lose control, and even self-deny ourselves. The Rosary will change us over time. Our perceptions, thoughts, as well as our social and political ideas, will be changed. And since the Holy Rosary is a tool of orthodoxy and a school of Christian life, we will end up defending the Catechism, life of the unborn, marriage, sacraments, the Holy Eucharist, and the Blessed Mother. The Most Holy Virgin will lead us to her divine Son and life of Earth will be transformed. Let's say, ideally every day, the Marian prayer, and see what happens. Ave Maria! We behave like the scribes and the Pharisees: we preach but we do not practice—as Jesus described in Matthew 23:1-12, that we read yesterday. In our time, Christianity in the U.S. and elsewhere seems to be just background wonderful music. However, there are living saints dwelling among us out of the public eye, who continue carrying the Word and assisting the poor and the sick. They walk silently through their Via Dolorosa, on their way to the Calvary. They follow Our Savior's core teaching: "The greatest among you must be your servant. Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, but whoever humbles himself will be exalted." (Mt 23:1-12). The carrying of the cross means suffering and rejection from people. No matter how painful, the cross is necessary for our salvation. Jesus Christ, King of the Universe, could have removed the cross from us, but he didn’t. Moreover, He Himself accepted the excruciating pain of death on a cross. He accepted His mission as the Lamb of God. This is a mystery that our minds can hardly understand. Only with the faithful eyes of the heart, we can perceive that after our earthly death we will enjoy eternity. We know for a fact that Jesus was the first resurrected man. By the gift of grace, we trust in Jesus Christ and his holiest mother. And that’s how we are able to carry our burden and embrace our personal cross—even being grateful to the Heavens. Ave Maria!
