This evil monarch was attempting to kill the infant Jesus (Matthew 2:16–18) as a reaction to the fulfillment of the Old Testament prophecy. These infant martyrs, Saints of God, were the first to suffer Christ's persecution. On a separate note, it is sad to see that for many in Latin America and Spain the date of December 28th is just a joke day, a kind of Fools Day. This day, most media outlets release exaggerated and comical news stories for the entertainment of audiences that enjoy this practice. Ave Maria! Merry Christmas! The Mother of Jesus says to Elizabeth: "My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord," or "My soul magnifies the Lord". The Blessed Virgin Mary announces that her whole being is based on glorifying the Divinity. She hides herself to nothingness by her profound humility. She only wants to give honor to the Creator. The holiest and most perfect of all human creatures in history—the new Eve—empties herself and she gives away fully to God. And then what happens? The Eternal Father exalts her, making her full of grace. Mary becomes a vessel for the Lord. She transforms herself into the superabundant source of life. The Word made flesh. Isn't that amazing? A new opportunity for Humanity to do things differently! The Holy Trinity has big plans for us; we just need to repent, believe, and rejoice in gratitude. Certainly, things are bad on Earth, with the virus, economy, and irregularities in politics. And for sure, family, faith, and the truth are under attack. Demons play always their role. But this is not about blaming others. Conversion starts with every single person. The renewal begins with us in the intimacy of prayer. On every Rosary, we ask for the increase of hope. Showing a dark mood or falling into despair isn't holy. We are the salt of the earth and the joy of the world. We reflect today on the joyful passage of the Visitation (Luke 1:39–45). Mary visits her cousin Elizabeth, and the infant in her womb—the unborn John the Baptist—leaps for joy. Let's ask Our Mother in Heaven grace to experience joy in our life of faith. Ave Maria! St. Joseph obediently took Mary as his wife after an angel appeared to him in a dream telling him not to be afraid. He trusted God’s will, and let himself be led, as Mary did in the Annunciation. St. Joseph spent his earthly life unnoticed, with a discreet presence, exemplifying humility. He was a working father and man of silence and strength. As Pope Francis said, St. Joseph was loving, obedient, and creatively courageous. "In his relationship to Jesus, Joseph was the earthly shadow of the heavenly Father: he watched over him and protected him, never leaving him to go his own way," the Pope wrote.
